水导轴承是水轮发电机组的重要部件，有如下作用：（1）将承受的径向力和转动部分的质量通过轴承座传递到管型座上；（2）限制水轮机转动部分的径向位移，保证机组大轴中心、机组中心、旋转中心“三心”同心。甩油环为水导轴承的重要部件，它的正常运行对保证水导轴承及水轮发电机组的稳定运行十分重要。
某电站投入运行后，机组水导轴承长期存在内甩油现象，且是每台机组同时存在的共性问题。拆卸水导油槽，检查挡油圈上部圆周存在油淤积，挡油圈安装位置大轴也存在油渍分界线(即存在油漫过挡油圈甩出油槽的迹象）。水导油槽主要的渗漏位置是在挡油圈安装部位，即存在挡油圈设计缺陷。随即进行改造：
1、挡油圈上部平面圆周采用钢板焊接挡板阻止润滑油往上窜。
2、侧面采用花纹钢板焊接制作翅片改变润滑油高速旋转的方向，确保润滑油能通过甩油孔流回水导油槽内。
经过改造水导油槽的甩油率从13%下降 到了2%，效果明显。
